As the image of their marriage is difficult to read the following might better explain some of it.

1. Reading down the column the first entry in the document indicates that the name is Pierre Villeneuve.
2. The next entry indicates his age as 17. This may be an error in transposition by the priest. Perhaps it should have read 27 and for Hannah age it should have read 17.
3. The next entry indicates that Pierre Villeneuve at the time of his marriage indicate that Kitley Co. Carleton was his residence when married. 4. The next entry indicates he was born in the province of Québec. In fact Pierre Villeneuve was born in L’Orignal, Ontario, see his birth and baptism record.
5. The next two entries indicate that he was a bachelor and a labourer.
6. The next entry indicates his parents names: Francis & Christine. Pierre’s parents are: François Villeneuve & Christine Deslauriers/Legault.
7. The next entry is her name, the bride. Here it is written as Hannah Provost, perhaps a more common name for Angélique Provost.
8. The next line states her place of residence at time of marriage was Ottawa, where her marriage took place.
9. The next line indicates her place of of birth as Hawkesbury. In fact she was born just a few km west, in the town of L’Orignal... same place of birth as Pierre Villeneuve. They probably knew each other very well growing up in the area. She was a spinster.
10. The next line next line states Hannah Provost’s parents: Lewis & Hannah. In fact their proper spelling of their names are: Louis Provost and Angélique Rochon. Again “Hannah” may have been a common name at the time for her.
11. The next line are the names of individuals who acted as witnesses to this marriage: Peter Lacoste and Louis Lacoste both of whom resided in Ottawa.
12. The next line states where and when the marriage took place: 25 April 1881 in Ottawa, On.
The balance on the marriage record indicates they were both Roman Catholics and that the marriage was performed by Rev M. Pollard.
