A STORY BY MARY ANN MCPHADEN

In 1933 Mary Ann McPhaden (and her children) was asked by her husband Bob to come up to the Peterborough area of Ontario to spend about six months with him.
She accepted and wrote a small personal journal or book about her experiences for the 6 month period she spent there.
It is a rather interesting and sometimes amusing story and gives us an insight into the struggles of living in the "wilds" of central Ontario, which at the time was not very populated.

Harold Stanley ROADNIGHT was born on 13 January 1901 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England.^1,2,3 He died on 2 September 1921 in Celbridge, Kildare, Ireland, at age 20. Harold enlisted on the 18th Dec 1917 in the Royal Flying Corps and died on Friday the 2nd of Sept 1921 in Baldonnel, near Dublin. He was serving as 158321 Corporal in 100 Squadron, Royal Air Force
Official Military Death Record:
1921 Sep 2. Died Celbridge, Kildare. Accidental death. He was a passenger in Bristol Fighter J6725, which crashed after the pilot took the aircraft up for an air test. The pilot flew to 1500 feet before putting the aircraft into a spin, from which he successfully recovered at 150 feet. The Court of Enquiry considered that he passed out after he had recovered the spin, and crashed the aircraft, killing Cpl. Roadnight.⁴

He was buried in September 1921 in Maidenhead, Berkshire.⁴
