Louis CHENIER, born on 19 October 1856 in Buckingham, QC, Canada,1 and was baptized on 2 November 1856 in St-Grégoire-de-Naziance, Buckingham, QC, Canada. Godparents: Joseph Joannis & Olympe Chénay (Chénier.)1 He married Anne WELSH, daughter of William WELSH and Marie Léa MARTEL, circa 1880.2 He died on 15 August 1923 in Hull, QC, Canada, at the age of 663 and was buried on 18 August 1923 in Hull, QC.3

Research Notes: I have been researching this missing link for about 20 years. The only possibility that Louis' parents could be Louis Chenier & Chantal Ladéroute-Séguin is because he is the only one so far that fits the necessary requirements. Also one of their children is named Jeanne Chantal! Louis Chenier is probably the one born 19 Oct 1856 in Buckingham, Qué. He was baptised 2 Nov 1856. Searching my records of the CHESNAY & CHENIER databases does not reveal any other Louis Chenier that meets the necessary personal events. Some research into the witnesses to other family members' births, marriages, and death records might be a possibility. Not done yet is the research into each of their children. Perhaps microfilm records might reveal witnesses etc.
Research done in April 2003: Hull Census of 1891 shows Louis as 34 years old and his spouse Anna Welsh as 29 years old. (Louis born around 1857: 1891 - 34 = 1857)
Hull Census of 1901 shows Louis as 49 years old and his spouse Anna as 39 years old. (Louis born Nov 1851: 1901 - 49 = 1852)
BMD of St-Grégoire-de-Naziance, Buckingham indicate Louis (son of Louis Chene & Jeanne Chantal Seguin-Laderoute) was born 19 Oct 1856
What are we to make of the 3 different birth dates? Obviously the census returns indicate that Louis probably did not really know his exact birth date!
NOTE: In Louis and Anna's marriage their first child is named Jeanne Chantal, which is the same name as Louis' mother's first names: Marie Jeanne Chantal Séguin-Ladéroute. This is about the strongest indication that this Louis in this branch is the same as the Louis as son of Louis Chene and Marie Jeanne Chantal Séguin-Ladéroute.
In the 1891 Hull Census Return it indicates both Louis & Anne were residing at 156 Rue Bridge with their two children: Jeanne, 5 years old and Mary Eva, 1 year old.

Victoria Cross Recipients
The Victoria Cross is the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Sixteen Canadian servicemen were awarded the Victoria Cross during the Second World War.
Capt. Paul Triquet
Casa Berardi, Italy
December 14th, 1943
Le Royal 22e Régiment
'For determined leadership and example.
The capture of the key road junction on the main Ortona-Orsogna lateral was entirely dependent on securing the hamlet of Casa Berardi. Both this and a gully in front of it had been turned by the Germans into formidable strong points defended by infantry and tanks.
On 14th December 1943, Captain Triquet's company of the Royal 22e Régiment with the support of a squadron of a Canadian Armoured Regiment was given the task of crossing the gully and securing Casa Berardi. Difficulties were encountered from the outset. The gully was held in strength and on approaching it the force came under heavy fire from machine-guns and mortars. All the company officers and 50 per cent of the men were killed or wounded. Showing superb contempt for the enemy, Captain Triquet went round reorganizing the remainder and encouraging them with the words, "Never mind them, they can't shoot". Finally when enemy infiltration was observed on all sides shouting, "There are enemy in front of us, behind us and on our flanks, there is only one safe place - that is on the objective," he dashed forward and with his men following him broke through the enemy resistance. In this action four tanks were destroyed and several enemy machine-gun posts silenced.
Against bitter and determined defence and under heavy fire, Captain Triquet and his company, in close co-operation with the tanks, forced their way on until a position was reached on the outskirts of Casa Berardi. By this time the strength of the company was reduced to 2 sergeants and 15 men. In expectation of a counter-attack Captain Triquet at once set about organizing his handful of men into a defensive perimeter around the remaining tanks and passed the mot d'ordre, ils ne passeront pas. A German counter-attack supported by tanks developed almost immediately. Captain Triquet, ignoring the heavy fire, was everywhere encouraging his men and directing the defence and by using whatever weapons were to hand personally accounted for several of the enemy. This and subsequent attacks were beaten off with heavy losses, and Captain Triquet and his small force held out against overwhelming odds until the remainder of the battalion took Casa Berardi and relieved them the next day.
Throughout the whole of this engagement Captain Triquet showed the most magnificent courage and cheerfulness under heavy fire. Wherever the action was the hottest he was often seen shouting encouragement to his men and organizing the defence. His utter disregard of danger, his cheerfulness and tireless devotion to duty were a constant source of inspiration to them. His tactical skill and leadership enabled them, although reduced by casualties to a mere handful, to continue their advance against bitter resistance and to hold their gains against determined counter-attacks. It was due to him that Casa Berardi was captured and the way opened for the attack on the vital road junction.'

Eugène MAJEAU married Angèlle CHENIER, daughter of Louis CHENE and Marie Jeanne Chantal SEGUIN-LADEROUTE, on 13 July 1863 in St-Grégoire-de-Naziance, Buckingham, QC, Canada.1 MAJEAU and not MAJOR
If you look at the the parish register of St-Grégoire-de-Naziance, Buckingham, QC you will see that in that register his name is spelled MAJOR. The priest more than likely wrote his name wrong. Also in the SGO (Société de généalogie de l'Outaouais) their database called BMS2000 spells his name as MAJOR. This I believe has been perpetuated by the error in the actual parish register.
Those 2 sources seem to me to be in error. I searched Familysearch.org for the marriage of Eugène: St-Grégoire-de-Naziance de Buckingham (1839-1964) image 574 of 621) and in there it spelled his name as MAJOR. An error I'm sure by the priest!
In his father's marriage: Salomon to Alice Morin his name is spelled as MAJEAU
In his father's marriage: Jean-Baptiste (Elie) to Marie-Louise Marsan-Lapierre his name is MAJEAU.
