HISTORY OF ST.STEPHEN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, BUCKINGHAM, QC:
Religious services were held in Buckingham by travelling missionaries in the sawmill cookhouse from 1823-1845. In 1837, the first Protestant place of worship was erected and was used by travelling missionaries of different denominations. The first resident Anglican minister was the Rev. Richard L. Stevenson in 1850.
In 1852, the first Anglican church was built of wood and in 1860, St. Stephen's, Buckingham was consecrated. In 1893, church services were held in the White School House, later known as the Chapel Hall, while a new stone church was built to replace the wooden structure. The second St. Stephen's Church was consecrated on September 20, 1903. In 1963, a parish hall was attached to St. Stephen's to add extensive office and meeting room space.
In 1995, the 150th anniversary of the parish was celebrated. The church hall was dedicated to the Rev. Frank Toope (a former rector) and his wife, Jocelyn, on June 18, 1995. Restoration and repairs were made on the church property from 1997-1999. St. Stephen's is in the parish of the Eastern Outaouais.

The congregation, officially organized in 1845, was visited by missionairies until 1850, when St.Stephen's welcomed its first resident priest, Reverend Richard L. Stevenson.
